Outdoor Conditioning 2007

If you haven’t heard, I have a kick-butt outdoor conditioning class going on at Green Lake throughout the summer. We meet every Tuesday at 7:00 PM and Saturday at 10:30 AM, west of Taco Guaymas on East Green Lake Way. It is called QAKE, named after the four independent trainers who started it (Quetin West, Adriana Medina, Kit Hill, and Elias Roberts). It’s pronounced ‘QUAKE’ – you bring the ‘U’ in QUAKE!

QAKE involves workouts with weighted bar, bosus (which is the half ball) and medicine balls. We also have fun conditioning and agility drills, abdominal and core strength, and yoga. All elements are incorporated into your work outs so that you can keep you resistance training up while you enjoy your cardio out doors. The purpose of the class is to provide a spin on your regiment. Also, it provides focus on your workouts and you do it as a group, so you push yourselves more than you would by yourself. One or two trainers will lead a section, depending on the amount of people, while the other two trainers make sure you have good form and give you tips so you can avoid any possible injuries. We have had a group of 20 and well as small groups of four. Rain or shine we are here for you. Prices are $160 for unlimited class, $130 for 6 class punch card or $25 for a drop in. We come out and have fun! Classes will go until the end of September.

Enjoy your summer! It is the best time of year to enjoy your cardio outside! I find it easy to get it done first thing in the morning before it gets to hot! We are so lucky in live in a lush green city like Seattle (suburbs) and be surrounded by the waters of Lake Washington, Elliot Bay and the Puget Sound.  Have fun, think healthy and stay healthy!

I took my first acroyoga workshop and I loved it! Thanks Kyme! It was a mix of partner stretching, acrobatics and Thai massage offered in the spirit of connection, trust and playfulness. If you want more information go to there website: www.AcroYoga.org

Before this class, I had been taking yoga for about 5 years. Yoga gives us a structured stretching session, definitely needed for those of us that hold a lot of tension throughout the day. It is an opportunity for me to be the student and work on all my imbalances. Stretching is as important as your workouts and can be a workout for some of us. Because you body has gotten used to firing your tight, (which are your strong muscles), you are not able to give your body time need for your brain to connect to your lose or weak muscles. Acroyoga was a work out for me, yet it was fun and it gave me an opportunity to connection with people in communication.

Kick started the season for fun runs and competitive racing in biking, running and triathlons. Check out: http://www.racecenter.com/, http://ontherunevents.com/ It helps me, personally, to set goals and work towards them. It keeps me in shape and feeling great when I accomplish them. Regardless on how I do, I just try to do my personal best.
